What is the white fluffy stuff on the stems of my indoor plants?

  Tasman

Q.

Hi Tui, I have white fluffy stuff on the stems of my indoor plants which then wither. Is there a spray I can use?

Lori Heine

A.

Hi Lori

It could be scale insect or mealy bug which are sap sucking insects that can cause damage like you describe if left uncontrolled. Use Tui Indoor Plant Insect Spray to control. If it is a heavy infestation, you will need to repeat spray every 7-10 days to break the lifecycle of the insects.

Take the plant outside to spray it and spray to run off (so the liquid is dripping off the plant). Also try and remove the damaged plant material.

Thanks, Tui Team.
