Is it beneficial to put citrus peelings under the trees they came from?

Q.

Hi Tui, I've been told that I should put all my citrus peelings under the trees that they came from, supposedly to help their growth. Is this beneficial to my trees? I know that my compost doesn't like citrus peelings.

Hi Rosemary,

We have't heard that one before! They take a while to break down and that is why they aren’t put into compost. I can’t imagine it would cause any harm to the tree and you would be adding organic matter back into the soil eventually.

Thanks, Tui Team
