How often should you fertilise potted plants with epsom salts?

  Hawkes Bay

Q.

Hello, how often should you fertilise potted plants with epsom salts?

Bev

A.

Hi Bev

Only when they show signs of needing Epsom Salts. Most balanced fertilisers contain magnesium (which is what Epsom salts is) and so if plants are being regularly fed, they shouldn’t need regular applications of Epsom salts. Should a plant show signs of magnesium deficiency (yellowing of the leaves) then apply during the growing season at 12 week intervals, depending what the plants is.

Thanks, Tui Team.
