How can I get my anthurium to flower?

Q.

Hi Tui, how can I get my indoor pink Anthurium plant to flower? Thanks.

Annette

A.

Hi Annette, anthuriums are a little fussy, but once you get it growing in the right place, plants will continually flower. They need bright light, not direct sunlight so a warm, bright room is best. Allow the potting mix to dry out between watering, use your index finger to test soil moisture. Press your index finger into the potting mix, if it feels damp, the plant doesn’t need watering. If it feels dry, water. Make sure it is planted in a well drained mix, they don’t like wet feet, a free-draining potting mix such as Tui Indoor Plant mix is best. Regularly feed plants using a liquid plant food, Tui Pour & Feed Liquid Indoor Plant Fertiliser is perfect for indoor plants, it is ready mixed, measuring the amount required into the cap an pour directly on to the plant. Mist the leaves regularly to increase humidity around the plant, if the leaf margins are browning, then the plant leaves need misting as this is caused by dry air. The Tui Team.
