Q.
Hi, is there a DWARF Grapefruit tree for sale at nurseries? If so, what is it called please?
Margaret
A.
Hi Margaret, there are two types of citrus rootstock, trifoliata which is standard rootstock for most citrus, and Flying Dragon, which is semi-dwarf rootstock. Check plant labels as they should say if the tree is on dwarf (Flying Dragon) rootstock. Look out for 'Golden Special dwarf' which is a NZ bred variety, self-fertile, has few seeds, heavy cropper and grows to approximately 1.5m. Another variety that is compact and slower growing is Star Ruby, with deep red sweet flesh, seedless and grows to 3 metres. Lianne.
